60,000 MILES BLOOD VESSELS PRESENT IN HUMAN BODY

                             DID YOU KNOW?

There are 60,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body. It simply means if we lay out all of the arteries, capillaries and veins in one adult, end-to-end, they would stretch about 60,000 miles (100,000 kilometres).

The capillaries which are the smallest of the blood vessels, would make up about the 80 percent of this length. Blood vessels are the components of circulatory system that transport blood throughout the human body. The word blood vessels is derived from the latin word "vas"means vessel.

There are five types of blood vessels. The arteries, which carry the blood away from the heart; the arterioles; the capillaries; where the exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues. The venules; and the veins, which carry blood from the capillaries back towards the heart.
